Write and Send Your Own Sweet Message!

How to make your own printable and self-mailing Valentine's Day CardsBy Chris Dunmire

St. Valentine's Day is coming this February 14, so be sure you leave enough time to prepare your Valentine's cards for all of your special someone's out there! Partners, family, friends, co-workers, schoolmates, roommates, and neighbors are all fair game on this sweet day and will LOVE receiving one of these creatively designed self-folding Valentine's Day cards.

Sweet Self-Mailing Valentine's

If you like to gift traditional paper cards to your sweethearts, then you'll enjoy crafting my one-of-a-kind Self-Mailing Valentine's Day Card (6.75" x 4.75") perfect for Valentine's Day. This card comes as a downloadable PDF file you can print on your inkjet or laser printer on white or colored card stock or decorative scrapbooking paper. After trimming, folding, writing, and addressing, your card will be ready to be hand-delivered or snail-mailed to your recipient.

Marvelous Valentine Mini's

If you believe that good things come in small packages, you're not alone! Try a smaller version of my card, the Valentine Mini's (5" x 3.5") — the perfect size for hand-delivering at school or work — tucked into a pocket, lunch, locker, mailbox, or keyboard!

Project Materials & Tools:

  • Printed Valentine's Day Card Templates: Choose from the large Self-Mailing Card or the smaller Mini-Cards (or even smaller Love Notelets)
  • Card Stock or Decorative Scrapbooking Paper (white on one side works best)
  • Paper Trimmer, Scissors
  • Pen or Marker
  • Heart-shaped sticker or adhesive (for sealing flap)
  • Postage Stamp (if mailing)

Printing & Assembly Instructions:

  1. Download and print either Valentine's Day Card template onto card stock or decorative scrapbook paper (white on one side, patterned or colored on the other side works best since my card design is already colored on one side).

  2. Cut out the Valentine Card and fold the heart flap down flush with the top of card.

  3. Write your personalized Valentine's Day message, address, seal, and hand-deliver or snail-mail the card to your recipient.
